Dark Matter

Dark Matter is an installation, which has a video projection of machine learning generated video and surveillance camera shaped wooden sculpture, with a ferrofluid “lens” displaying pixelated low resolution surveillance footages on the top surface. Ferrofluid is a magnetic black liquid that was invented by NASA engineer Steve Papell in the 1960s to move around fuel in zero gravity. Similar to dark matter, it has invisible force in space. The title also refers to the hidden dark side of technologies today that matters for the public to be aware. The increased industrial use of artificial intelligence training in large datasets became a security and privacy issue. Technologies like body tracking, face detection, user behavior analytics are used as a prediction tool for surveillance and attract attention.Ferrofluid is a magnetic black liquid that invented by NASA engineer Steve Papell in 1960s to move around fuel in zero gravity.
